We just got back from a few days in AL spending Thanksgiving with the Hyche crew. What a wonderful holiday weekend full of food, family, football (Roll Tide), and even a little shopping. Although it wasn't Maya's first turkey day, it was her first turkey day actually eating turkey. Hard to believe already a year has past since her first holiday season, what a little peanut she was last Thanksgiving! Here are some pics of her from the last couple of months:

Well, we made it! 28 hours round trip in the car (and Maya was an ANGEL) and a whirlwind weekend, but Key West was a blast. Even better than I expected. Sarah and Peter got hitched without a hitch. The bride was BEAUTIFUL, as you can see below. Everyone had such a fun time. Here are some pics from the weekend.

Some very cute pics from 4th of July. We had a great time at D.P. hanging with family. Of course, I am looking at these pictures still not able to believe how big these kids are getting! Maya and Gabriel both cut their first teeth on the 4th (why wouldn't they - parallel cousins). Maya has since cut 2 more!! She is also walking ALL OVER THE PLACE, can't slow this girl down. It was really a great weekend, one of those that will go down in the books.

Yesterday was another beautiful spring day in the Panhandle, so we headed back to the beach. This time Chris got in on the fun. He even went swimming, the water was "warm" to him at 65 degrees. YIKES! Maya and I stuck to dipping toes only. The Hyches are definitely taking advantage of this warm spring weather.

Maya and some of her friends had a play date at the beach today. I can't believe she actually wore those sun glasses. Don't they make her look oh so cool? She might even like them because she left them on her head and did not try to eat them. As you can see in pic #1...she is full on crawling since yesterday. She was on the move today - LOVING the sand and even dipped her toes in the water. Pic #3 is Maya and her pal Melia - they are totally posing pretty for the camera!!

7 Months Old

Maya Rose is 7 months old today...ALREADY!! Standing is her new favorite pastime. It happened again today for a couple of seconds. We also went to the Dr. today and she weighs 15 lbs 11 ozs. and is 26 inches. Chunky Monkey! Can't believe our little girl is already 7 months. Time really does fly when you are having fun.

I thought this picture was really cute. She discovered her tongue this weekend when trying to eat dry cheerios. Thanks for the pictures, Poppy!

So I didn't catch it on film, but Maya stood up today without being held for the first time. There were witnesses...it happened at Tia Amanda's house and Grammy was also there to see it. It was only for a few seconds. I think Sammy might have been more excited about it than anyone that she could stand by herself...probably because that means she is one more step closer to steamrolling with him. Anyways, I thought it was bloggable material, even if we don't have a pic to prove it.

Family Weekend

This weekend Memaw, Poppy & Mimi came down from Alabama to spend the weekend with us. Don't be fooled by Maya's face in the pic above, she had an awesome time. Memaw, Maya and I went and watched Chris' softball game on Saturday. She did lots of playing and "almost" crawling. When they left on Sunday, they headed back to SNOW in Tuscaloosa!! We miss them already.

Last week the King & Queen of Spain visited Pensacola in celebration of the City's 450th anniversary. Chris, Maya & I went to see them speak. We even saw someone waving an Andalucia flag. While we were there, we met up with Tia Abuela Clara. It was a fun afternoon in downtown Pensacola. Afterwards we hit up Surf Burger and Maya sat in a highchair! No burger for her yet...but she was eyeing mine.

So this is what you get when your baby's favorite food is prunes. Look at that face...FUN! We are making a mess and loving it. Needless to say our laundry load has been increased with Maya's progression into solids. So far she has been eating fruit, fruit, fruit (pears, apples, peaches, prunes). Chris and I set up the baby food factory last week and made all of her food (organic, too!). She loves prunes, hates pears. We have yet to try blueberries, but they are on the list. She's getting big so fast.

I hope everyone had as sweet a VALENTINE'S DAY as I did. Nothing special or overly romantic, just a very chill day with my sweetie and my baby. Maya and I gave Daddy a homemade valentine, we did her footprint on a card (first footprint!). And I have to say thanks to Addie at StrollerFit, because it was her idea and help that made it happen. It was super cute. AHHH...LOVE IS IN THE AIR!!! (By the way, since spring is just around the corner, Maya Rose is wearing her P'cola Pelicans t-shirt...game on.)

Solid As A Rock

OK...so maybe not literally solid as a rock, but our newest milestone is that Maya has started eating solids (or mushy at least). We started her on rice cereal this week. She looks like such a big girl sitting in her new highchair! I wouldn't say she loves it, but she is definitely giving it a try. Look at that blond hair...that is Chris' daughter for sure.

Actually little Gabe was just putting it on for the camera, word is that he was very well behaved on his first car trip. The newest McFadden finally made his arrival into the world yesterday evening. At 5:56 p.m. Gabriel Andrew was born. At 8 lbs 1.5 ozs and 20 inches, this big (little) boy arrived on his due date and is the cutest addition to this family since...um....8/4/08! :) He has a head full of black hair and is soooooo sweet. Mommy Amanda did the entire labor and birth ALL NATURAL so much applause to her today. Maya is very excited that her parallel cousin is finally here. Welcome to the world, little Gabe. We've been waiting for you!

5 Months Old!

On Sunday Maya was 5 months old! How did that happen so fast? She is getting so big already...sitting up, making all kinds of noise, learning to drink from a sippy cup....ahhhh. I just can't believe it, somedays it seems like she was just born yesterday. With Baby Gabriel's arrival just around the corner, I keep thinking about being pregnant and labor/delivery...this has been a FAST 5 months.

We Hyche's are crazy for Christmas. Here is "Sparky" decorating our casa Griswold style. I have to say (and not because I am biased) our house is the most lit up on the block. Drive by and honk if you like it....oh...except not after 8:00 because we don't want to wake up the baby!
Trimming the tree with Maya! We had so much fun, look at all of those ornaments. Che even got in on the action. It is so much fun having my partner in crime when it comes to tree decorating - it isn't Sparky's favorite Christmas activity - he prefers the outdoor decs.

What would Christmas be without Its a Wonderful Life? Maya is trying it out, wonder how it tastes? Funny, I am just realizing as I type this that there is ALWAYS a dog (or two) in the background of my pictures!!

Something felt weird about today...lets see...what could it be? I KNOW! It is Saturday and I actually got Chris out of the house with me!! Why does this feel so strange? Maybe because for the last 3 months or so my loving husband has been a slave to college football on Saturday. Since this weekend was the lull between regular season ball and the bowl games, he was all mine. What did we do? What any good American would do on a Saturday in December...WENT SHOPPING! We got a lot of X-mas shopping out of the way and got our tree. What a lovely way to spend a Saturday. Although I have to admit, even I missed wathching Game Day and seeing my fave Kurt Herbstreet.

How did that happen so fast? Only 13 days left for holiday shopping...and that includes today (but not the 25th because in my opinion if you haven't completed your shopping by the 24th you are either out of luck or picking something up for your loved one at the Tom Thumb on the corner!). I am about half way there. Of course there are the few hold outs...you know...those people that are always so hard to pick something out for. Hopefully I'll get lucky, or they might just get some Red Hots and a 6 pack of Bud Light on X-Mas Day!!

MR dusted off her party dress today for Tia Amanda's S-P-R-I-N-K-L-E! About 25 ladies braved the rain to celebrate the upcoming arrival of Baby Gabriel. Desserts were on the menu, and I'd post some pics but they were eaten before I could grab the camera.

She had to take a little cat nap during the party...it is hard work being so cute.

CALLING ALL BAKERS!

So GJ Cinnamon Rolls kicked off holiday baking, but Pumpkin Roll officially kicks off THANKSGIVING BAKING! A great start to the pumpkin season. I made it at the request of my sweetie. Some may think it crazy to make Pumpkin Roll at a whim when the list of baking for the week already includes 4 pies, but anything for my guy and any excuse to bake with pumpkin. I cannot, however, take credit for the beautiful table...all that credit goes to Mom!

Since I haven't had an answer back, I'm starting to wonder...ANY BAKERS OUT THERE??
